Custom Error Pages
You can provide your own custom 404 (not found) error page simply by creating a page with slug ‘404’. But what about the other server errors:
- 400 Bad request
- 403 Forbidden
- 500 Server error
You can very simply provide your own pages for all these too. Just create your error page(s), as with 404. Then to make them work you need to edit the .htaccess file in the site root directory. Add the following lines to the file:
ErrorDocument 400 /<slug of 400 page> ErrorDocument 403 /<slug of 403 page> ErrorDocument 500 /<slug of 500 page>
You can divert the errors to individual pages or send them all to one generic error page, as you like.
